3 - The Canso Channel

The Canso Channel is a narrow strait separating Cape Breton Island from the rest of Nova Scotia. At its narrowest, where it is about 1.4 km across, a causeway was constructed in 1955. This has a lock through it 820 feet long and 80 feet wide at the eastern end.
