Tub-Boat on Humber Arm

The stern of the old tub boat maintenance craft on the Humber Arm, 1978.
It can be seen that there was some sort of cover over the stern section, which has a raised gunwale. It is thought that some of the trading boats were so shaped to retain coal when being hauled up the inclines.

Detail of the stern section.
When the boat was excavated there was a small amount of puddle clay in the open section, with a golf ball partly buried in it!.
