Wheat Leasowes Lock (No.7)

Wheat Leasowes Lock Bridge in 1976. (Grid Ref SJ 668137) The road was built over the lock chamber; the bottom gate lay between the road and the bridge entrance seen here.

The bottom gate channels of Wheat Leasowes Lock sticking out of the ground in 1976. In 1998 no trace could be seen.

Shucks Lock (No.6)

Shucks Lock in 1976. (Grid Ref SJ 669136) The pit for the counterbalance weight was still to be found alongside the bottom gate position.

Shucks Lock in 1976. It was a bit like an elephant trap even then. The chamber is still there, but extremely overgrown. Approach with great care.
